Ronald G. Ehrenberg, the Irving M. Ives Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Economics at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and director of the Cornell Higher Education Research Institute, has been appointed chair of the National Research Council's Board of Higher Education and the Workforce for a three-year term. The board monitors science and engineering higher education and workforce issues and oversees studies in those areas, including an upcoming evaluation and rating of doctoral programs. Ehrenberg is a national associate of the National Academies and a member of the National Academy of Education.
