Delivering a transcontinental view

Richard Burt '69, right, a former U.S. ambassador to Germany, talks with Alex Tullis '00, at a reception in the lobby of Goldwin Smith Hall March 31. Burt was on campus to deliver a Department of Government lecture, "Reinventing the Transatlantic Alliance," and he spoke with students, faculty members and alumni afterward. He discussed the changing relationship between the United States and Europe following the end of the Cold War. Burt has been a partner in a global management consulting firm, the chief U.S. negotiator with the former Soviet Union in the Strategic Arms Reduction Talks (START) and has held positions with the federal state and defense departments.
