The benefits enrollment period for 1997 for endowed faculty and staff begins Nov. 11 and runs until Dec. 16. Changes in health insurance and enrollment in Select Benefits for 1997 must be made during this period.
Statutory employees enrolling or making changes in Select Benefits must do so during this enrollment period, as well.
All endowed and statutory faculty and staff are receiving their 1997 Benefits Enrollment Packets at their home addresses this week.
No major changes in Cornell's benefits packets are being announced, but enrollees should review the information to learn about changes to the life insurance, long term care and Accidental Death & Dismemberment programs.
The rate structure for the endowed health plan has changed, with decreases in the rates for family and dual-spouses enrolled in the Managed Choice plan, and increases for single coverage in Managed Choice and for all coverages in the 80/20 plan (see chart).
During the benefits enrollment period:
·Endowed and statutory faculty and staff may enroll in Select Benefits Medical Care or Dependent Care accounts for 1997.
·Endowed and statutory faculty and staff may enroll in Long Term Care.
·All endowed faculty and staff may change their health care coverage, effective Jan. 1, 1997. Changes include moving from the 80/20 Plan to Managed Choice or vice versa; changing eligible dependents; and changing from single to family coverage or vice versa.
New rates have not yet been announced for statutory faculty and staff, and the enrollment period and deadline have not been announced.
Expo '96, a Benefair/Healthfair, will be held today (Nov. 7) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Field House. This free event is open to all Cornell faculty, staff, retirees and their families and provides an opportunity to learn about benefits and wellness programs, attend educational seminars, talk with benefits and wellness staff and meet with representatives from Cornell vendors.
All employees are encouraged to attend. Time spent attending Expo '96 is considered time worked, for payroll purposes.
