All items for the Chronicle Calendar should be submitted (typewritten, double spaced) by campus mail, U.S. mail or in person to Chronicle Calendar, Cornell News Service, Village Green, 840 Hanshaw Road.

Notices should be sent to arrive 10 days prior to publication and should include the name and telephone number of a person who can be called if there are questions.

Notices should also include the subheading of the calendar in which the item should appear.

Cornell International Folkdancers
Dec 14, 6 p.m., 213 S. Geneva St: Holiday party starts with a dish-to-pass dinner at the Senior Citizen's Center. For information, call Edilia at 387-6547 or Marguerite at 539-7335. There will be no scheduled dancing until January.

Johnson Museum of Art
The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, on the corner of University and Central avenues, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Telephone: 255-6464. The museum will be open only Dec. 28 and 29 over winter break and will resume regular hours Jan. 2.

Thesis/Dissertation: The thesis/dissertation submission deadline for a January 1997 degree is Jan. 10, 1997.
* Spring '97 registration: Graduate student registration is in Room 125, Caldwell Hall, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16. New students and those continuing students with "holds" must register in person at Caldwell Hall. Continuing students with no "holds" do not need to go to Caldwell Hall for registration. To determine if you have a "hold," check "Just the Facts" on Bear Access (beginning Jan. 11).
* Course enrollment: Graduate student course enrollment is Jan. 17 through Feb. 7. Forms are available in graduate field offices and at Caldwell Hall. Return completed form in person by Friday, Feb. 7, to the Graduate School. Students who completed electronic online precourse enrollment do not need to complete a course enrollment form. For course changes, submit a course "add and drop" form to the Graduate School.
* Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships: Applications for 1997-98 are available in the World Area Program Offices, located on the first floor of Uris Hall. These offices also will have information on deadline for completed applications. Fellowships are available to citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
* GCA positions: Graduate and Professional Student Housing will hold information sessions and provide applications for those interested in a job as a graduate community assistant for 1997-98. This is a live-in position in one of the graduate resident buildings/complexes. All full-time graduate and non-traditional undergraduate students are welcome. To apply you must attend one of the following information sessions: Hasbrouck Community Center, Dec. 5 or Jan. 28, noon to 1 p.m.; Big Red Barn, Dec. 10, 5 to 6 p.m. or Jan. 23, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Maplewood Park Community Center, Jan. 19, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The position requires a time commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week.
* Payday date change: Most graduate students with assistantships will be paid one day early for the pay period Dec. 5 to 18; payday will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, and direct deposit Thursday, Dec. 19.
* University holiday: The Graduate School offices will be closed during the official university winter holiday, Wednesday, Dec. 25, through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997. The offices also will close Friday, Dec. 20, at noon.

Department of Music
* Dec. 12, 8:15 p.m., Barnes Hall: Students of Judith Kellock will present a studio voice recital. Singers include Lea Friedman, Brian Chu, Rodney Glassman, Rebecca Plack, Peter Tengstrom, Rebecca Schaefer, Alexander Brose and Arsenia Soto. A wide variety of repertoire will be presented, from Lieder of Brahms, Wolf and Schumann to Mozart arias from Die Zauberflote and Don Giovanni, to the music of Barber and Tchaikovsky.
* Dec. 14, 8:15 p.m., Anabel Taylor Chapel: The Tyetones will present choral selections from the 16th century. Under the direction of Jonathan Blocksom, the 14-voice ensemble opens with Alleluia by Christopher Tye, the composer after whom the group is named. Following three madrigals by Thomas Morley and Orlando di Lasso, Laura Boyd conducts Palestrina's Dies Sanctificas. Blocksom then directs Josquin Desprez's Ave Maria and closes the program with William Byrd's Mass for Three Voices.

Bosnian Student Project
Five of Ithaca's noted writers will read from their new works Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. in the A.D. White House to benefit the Bosnian Student Project.
Professor Alison Lurie will read from her recent fiction. Emeritus Professor James McConkey will read one of his new short stories. Brian Hall will read from The Saskiad, a best-selling novel in Europe soon to be issued in the United States.
Paul Cody will read from his third novel, So Far Gone, to be published next year. Edward Hower will read one of the Indian folktales he recently has reworked. Gail Holst-Warhaft, adjunct professor of literature, will introduce the program with one of her poems on the Bosnian war.
The program will include a reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres. A suggested contribution of $20 will help fund the Bosnian Student Project, sponsored by the Cornell Hillel Foundation.
