Sean Ulmer has been named associate curator of painting and sculpture at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art. Ulmer, who joined the museum staff Oct. 15, will be responsible for curating the painting and sculpture collection as well as planning and coordinating exhibitions and helping to provide educational instruction about this collection for the museum's audiences -- university, school groups and children and the community. Ulmer is a Ph.D. candidate in art history at Ohio State University, where he received a master's degree in the history of art. His previous museum experience includes work at Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University.

Ellen McCollister has been named assistant director for public affairs at the Johnson Museum, overseeing the museum's endowment campaign, annual fund, government and foundation grants, membership, publications, publicity and advisory council meetings. McCollister has worked in numerous development positions throughout Cornell, most recently as assistant director of foundation relations. She holds an MBA from Columbia University and bachelor's degree from Cornell.

Lloyd Hall, former associate director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell, has assumed leadership for the new Cornell Research Scholars Program, recently announced by President Hunter Rawlings. The program comes under the Office of the Cornell Commitment (formerly called the Cornell Tradition Office) and is housed in 107 Day Hall. This office, under the leadership of Janiece Bacon Oblak, assistant dean of admissions and financial aid for recognition programs and director of the Cornell Tradition, now includes three programs: the Cornell Tradition, the Cornell Research Scholars Program and the Cornell National Scholars.

Peter I. Karp, A.I.A., has been appointed university architect, effective Nov. 1. As university architect, he has responsibility for participating in the facilities team that guides the university in architectural matters; leadership of Planning, Design and Construction's professional architectural design group; and managing architectural consultant services, among other duties. Karp most recently came from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he held the positions of university architect and adjunct professor in the College of Architecture for the past five years.
