Prize nominees sought: Nominations are being sought for the 1997 Flora Rose Prize. The cash prize is awarded to a Cornell junior or senior who, in the words of the donor, "shall demonstrate the greatest promise for contributing to the growth and self-fulfillment of future generations." Letters of nomination may come from any member of the Cornell community and should be sent to Christopher Bolgiano, Office of Student Services, N-101 MVR Hall, by Monday, Feb. 10. All additional materials must be submitted by the nominee by Feb. 21.

Open Meditation: The Open Meditation group guided by Nanci Rose, health educator at Gannett Health Center, meets each Tuesday from 5:15 to 6 p.m. in the Founders Room, Anabel Taylor Hall. The group uses a variety of approaches and does not make claims for any particular form or technique. Each session opens with about 10 minutes of preparation through instruction or selected readings or tapes. This is followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation and concludes with quiet group discussion or gentle movement. Participants with all levels of meditation experience are welcome. All sessions are free and open to the Cornell community. For more information, call Nanci Rose, 255-4782.

Spanish classes: The Committee on U.S.-Latin American Relations (CUSLAR) is offering ongoing Spanish language classes at the beginner and intermediate level. The classes are small, conversation-oriented groups, taught by a native Spanish speaker. New students may join at any time. For information, call the CUSLAR office at 255-7293.
