The University Payroll Office, now located in the basement of Day Hall, will relocate to East Hill Plaza, on Judd Falls Road, in late November. The move is part of a longer range plan to provide a more centralized location for the undergraduate admissions organization, said Provost Don M. Randel.
Randel said the admissions offices will be moved to Day Hall in early summer 1999. In conjunction with that move, a visitors center will be established at a location on the perimeter of campus. The center will provide a number of services, including visitor information, campus walking tours and a space for admissions presentations for the more than 30,000 people who visit campus each year, Randel said.
"The payroll move is necessary to open up central campus space for undergraduate admissions, an important strategic move for that department," Randel said. "The physical proximity to central campus will strengthen the undergraduate admissions organization by allowing staff to interact more effectively with members of the campus community."
Details of operational changes for Payroll Office procedures will be forthcoming from that office within the next two weeks. "We are taking steps to ensure that the Payroll Office relocation will have little, if any, impact on its customers," Director Glenn Beardsley said. Beardsley requested that customers refrain from contacting the Payroll Office until the procedures are distributed.
