Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Alan Berliner will present his work Nobody's Business Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Willard Straight Theatre. Tickets are is $4.50; $4 for students, seniors and children under 12.

Berliner, winner of the International Film Critics Association Prize from the Berlin International Film Festival and the Golden Gate Award from the San Francisco International Film Festival, is known for using a variety of sources, including old home movies and outtakes from other films, to represent his subject: the family, which he uses to explore broad issues of historical importance.

A success at last year's New York Film Festival, Nobody's Business was broadcast as part of the PBS series P.O.V. In the film, Berliner takes his own father, Oscar, and places his life in the context of Jewish history in America.

Cornell Cinema will screen another of Berliner's works, The Family Album, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the CTA Film Forum. Tickets are $2. This collage film uses home movies from the 1920s through the 1950s to construct a startling image of the traditional American family.

The screening of Berliner's documentary is sponsored by the Cornell Council for the Arts, Cornell Hillel and the Central New York Programmers Group.
