Parking permits available: The transportation office currently has the following permits available for faculty and staff members: A, F, K, O and R (North Campus work sites only). There also is a limited number of SA permits available. Come to 116 Maple Ave. if you are interested in switching to one of these permit options.
CIT open forum: H. David Lambert, vice president for information technologies, and Ann Stunden, director of Academic Technology Services, will co-host an open forum for students on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. in 100 Caldwell Hall (north side of Ag Quad, next to Warren Hall). This is an opportunity for all students to discuss their questions, concerns, ideas and suggestions about computing at Cornell with representatives from all divisions of CIT. Benefits info: BeneFair '97 will be held in the Statler Ballroom on Monday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with educational workshops situated in other nearby locations. BeneFair '97 will give faculty and staff a unique and convenient opportunity to talk to vendors, benefit-program managers and other resource people to learn more about the benefits and programs that are available to them. Educational workshops offered during BeneFair '97 include: "Retirement planning for ages 20 to 35," "Retirement planning for ages 36 to 55," "Beyond the basics: advanced asset allocation," "How Managed Choice can work for you," "Can Cornell help pay for your child's education?" "Have you wanted to get a Cornell degree?" "Introduction to MONEY 2000" and "Choosing child care." BeneFair '97 also will give faculty and staff the opportunity to talk to representatives from AON Consulting, Cornell's new Select Benefits third-party administrator. AON Consulting representatives will be available to answer questions concerning Select Benefits medical and dependent care reimbursement accounts.
Chemistry at the Sciencenter: For the 10th anniversary of National Chemistry Week, Francis J. DiSalvo, Cornell professor of chemistry, will present a public lecture with demonstrations of interesting chemical phenomena on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Sciencenter in Ithaca. All ages are invited to attend the demonstration of how chemical reactions can be used to produce colors, sound and light.
