Health insurance reminder: Cayuga Medical Center still does not have a contract with Blue Cross of Central New York. Blue Cross is the insurance carrier for the hospital portion of the New York state-provided Empire Plan Health Insurance. Blue Cross claims continue to be reimbursed at 100 percent of the covered hospital expenses incurred, less any co-payment or penalty. The process by which hospital claims will be paid has changed, however. Cayuga Medical Center will submit bills for payment directly to Blue Cross, but the payment will be sent directly to the covered employee. It will be the employee's responsibility to make the payment to the hospital. If you have any questions, contact Empire Blue Cross at 1-800-342-9815 or the Statutory Benefits office at 255-4455.
