Ten Cornell campus and Ithaca-area organizations will present "A Tapestry of Tales: A Multicultural Storytelling Festival," on Sunday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Statler Auditorium.
Six professional storytellers representing the African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Jewish and Native-American traditions will perform in a celebration of their individual and shared heritages. Cornell Hillel has joined forces with the Multicultural Resource Center and Cornell's Chinese Student Association, CUSLAR, Akwe:kon, Young Israel, REACH, Colored Women Colored Worlds, NAACP and EARS to bring this event to the local community.
The storytelling festival is shaping up to be "a wonderfully diverse, exciting and entertaining evening with something to offer for the entire Ithaca community," said event coordinator Shoshana Killian. "It will be fun for everyone."
The event has been made possible by grants provided by the Student Community Fund Grant of the Dean of Students Office and the National Hillel Student Initiatives Committee.
Tickets will be available at Willard Straight Hall; prices range from $2 in advance for students ($3 at the door) to $5 for community members.
