Alumni return to campus June 5-8 for Reunion '97

The Cornell campus will be bustling again on the weekend of June 5 through 8, when more than 5,500 alumni and guests attend Reunion 1997.

Besides the usual array of recreational, educational and gastronomic activities, Reunion programs will include the Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Lecture by former Texas Governor Ann Richards on Friday, June 6, at 3 p.m. in Bailey Hall. Also in Bailey Hall, on Saturday, Cornell President Hunter Rawlings will deliver the State of the University Address at 10:30 a.m.

Other scheduled events include a lecture on George Bernard Shaw; piano concerts of music by George Gershwin; exhibits of architectural drawings by a Cornell alumnus and of New York state quilts; the annual Reunion Run; a gathering of alumni from the six-year Ph.D. program offered between 1967 and 1972; gatherings of the Black and Native American alumni associations as well as veterans of WVBR radio station; and a tour of nearby EcoVillage.

One change from previous Cornell Reunions: There will be no Thursday-night tents on the Arts Quad. The tents will be open Friday and Saturday nights.
