Patricia L. Edwards, 31, a Cornell employee for the past 7 years, was killed in a domestic incident May 31 at her home in Spencer in Tioga County.

Edwards was a student service representative in the office of the University Registrar for most of her time at Cornell. On Feb. 13 of this year, she transferred to the Section of Neurobiology and Behavior in the Division of Biological Sciences, where she worked as an administrative assistant. Before joining the Registrar's office, she worked briefly as a temp in the Hotel School.

Members of the Section of Neurobiology and Behavior issued a statement that said, in part, "Everyone was drawn to Pat's warm smile, cheerful demeanor and winning sense of humor. She was able to laugh at herself when she made mistakes. She was a ray of sunshine -- the type of person that brought a glow into a room. Pat was always very open about things, down to earth and friendly. She was intelligent, self-confident and highly capable. Everyone enjoyed getting to know her.

"Pat adapted to her job very quickly and became an integral part of the department. She always said how happy she was to be working with us. Even though she was only with Neurobiology and Behavior for three months, we were looking forward to many years of having her on the staff. She is greatly missed and she will always be remembered."

Edwards is survived by her 15-month-old daughter, Nikki; a trust fund for her has been set up. Donations may be sent in care of the Richards Funeral Home, 3670 Waverly Road, Owego, N.Y. 13827
