Ben V. Olguín, assistant professor in the Department of English, will be a Ford Fellow and visiting scholar at the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin for the 1997 -- 98 academic year. Olguín, a Houston native, will conduct research for his upcoming book, Testimonios Pintaos: The Political and Symbolic Economy of Chicana and Chicano Convict Discourses, and will teach a course.
