Guitar lessons: The Willard Straight Hall Program Board is presenting group folk guitar lessons by Phil Shapiro on six Tuesdays beginning July 1. The one-hour lessons will be held in the International Lounge of Willard Straight Hall. Registration is at the first lesson, and participants should bring their guitars. The beginners class starts at 7 p.m.; intermediate, at 8 p.m. The course costs $40, payable at the first lesson. For further information, call Phil Shapiro at 844-4535.

Road closing: West Avenue, between Campus Road and University Avenue, will be closed to traffic from Monday, June 30, at 6 a.m. to Sunday, July 6, at 6 p.m., according to Cornell's Department of Utilities. Parking on the north end of West Avenue will remain open during that period. The road will be closed to allow the city of Ithaca to relocate a water line and the utilities department to route a new steam line across the street, said Frank Perry, the project manager. Closing of the road for a week will preclude the necessity of having single-lane-only traffic for two weeks, he said. For further information on the project, call Perry at 255-6634.
