Sarah Abraczinskas, right, a high school junior from Catawissa, Pa., learns welding from Thomas Cook, second from right, a lecturer in agricultural and biological engineering, in Riley Robb Hall on July 15. Abraczinskas was part of the C.U.R.I.E. (Cornell University Research in Engineering) Academy, an annual, one-week summer program on campus that allows high school women interested in math and science an opportunity to explore career options in engineering. This year 41 young women were chosen to participate in the academy. Adriana Rovers/University Photography
