* Partial tuition fellowship: Since reduced tuition has ended, doctoral students who are self-supporting are eligible for partial tuition fellowships if they entered the doctoral program in spring 1995 or earlier, have six semesters registered in the Graduate School and have passed the A-Exam. Completed applications are due at the Graduate Fellowship Office, 155 Caldwell Hall, by Aug. 29 for the fall 1997 semester.
* Study abroad: Applications for Fulbright grants for study abroad for the 1998-99 academic year are available at the Einaudi Center for International Studies. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Course enrollment continues through Friday, Sept. 19; return completed form in person to the Graduate School. Students who completed electronic precourse enrollment last spring do not need to complete a course enrollment form; if there is a change in their schedule, they should complete a Course Drop and Add form.
* English test: The English Placement Test will be held in Room D, Goldwin Smith Hall, Monday, Aug. 25, 9:30 a.m. Entering international students who satisfied the language requirement with a TOEFL score below 600 must take this examination.

Cornell's third annual Buckwheat Field Day will be held at the Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva on Aug. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Vegetable Research Farm, located at 1097 Seneca Castle Road.
Buckwheat, a crop that grows like beans but produces a grainlike fruit, is grown throughout New York and Pennsylvania and fills an important role in many crop rotations.
Thomas Bjorkman, associate professor of vegetable crop physiology, is the organizer of the event. He is determined that buckwheat be brought back into prominent production in this area. "The supply of this crop has been far below demand for many years," he said.miscellany
