Members of the board of directors of the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) got an up-close look at veterinary research Sept. 5 from Normand G. Ducharme (holding horse's leg), professor and head of the Large Animal Clinic, who discussed lameness in horses. Cornell hosted the board meeting of COGR, a national association of leading research universities, based in Washington, D.C., that informs federal agencies about academic research and keeps its 135 member institutions up-to-date on federal practices and proposals that affect them. From left are Julie Norris, MIT; Mona and Ken Babe, Penn State; Anne Taylor, COGR; Fred Rogers, Cornell senior vice president, a board member; Ducharme; Lisa Thorson, technician. Becca and Robert Price of the University of Texas are at right.
