It was food, football for Super Bowl fans at Okenshields

One of the best things about watching the Super Bowl each year is what's on the dinner menu.

Okenshields, in Willard Straight Hall, offered its annual opportunity in the TV room for both dining and cheering during the big game Sunday, and about 50 students and even some faculty members showed up for the fun.

Some were there primarily to watch the game -- but the access to chow didn't hurt.

"I figured I might as well come watch the game here because there's always plenty of food," said sophomore Lisa Turner.

For others, the food may have been the main event.

"I'm not a very big sports fan," said sophomore Greg O'Shea, "All I know is that I'm supposed to root for Green Bay."

Junior Richard Hagopian said he was there for the entertainment.

"I saw Jewel sing the National Anthem," Hagopian said. "Now all I'm waiting for are the commercials."

Most in the crowd seemed to be rooting for the favored Green Bay Packers, but there were some Bronco fans

"I know the Packers are going to win, but I'm still rooting for the Broncos," said freshman Christian Sweetser before the game. "Someone has to root for the underdog."

As it turned out, Sweetser wound up picking the top dog -- Denver prevailed 31-24.
