Richard B. Fischer, professor emeritus of environmental education, leads a hike Sept. 18 to the Cornell Plantations natural area southwest of Ithaca named for him. Former students, colleagues, family members and friends attended the dedication of the Fischer Old-Growth Forest, a 34-acre sanctuary near Newfield, and read the inscription on a boulder: "Through his teaching we saw and explored the world of living things and were changed forever."
