Peter W. Nathanielsz, the James Law Professor of Physiology and director of the Laboratory for Pregnancy and Newborn Research in the College of Veterinary Medicine, has been inducted as a Fellow of England's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. One of 12 fellows inducted in Sept. 25 ceremonies in London, Nathanielsz was cited as "a fetal physiologist of world renown. He and his colleagues have made numerous contributions to our understanding of the role of the fetus in the initiation of labor, to the adaptation of the neonate to extra-uterine life and, more recently, to the physiology of myometrial contractility and the importance of intrauterine influences upon adult diseases."
