Arecibo relief goal met: Thomas Hoebbel, vice chair of the Employee Assembly, has announced that the fund drive to help employees at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Georges has surpassed its goal of $10,000. "This was truly a campuswide effort and could not have been successful without the broad based support that we received," Hoebbel said. "Donations were received from all areas of campus, from dedicated staff and faculty through the chairman of the board of trustees." Donors included many individuals and also featured exceptional efforts from the College of Arts and Sciences and its dean, Facilities and Campus Services and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.
