Upstate and running

Mark Green, New York City public advocate and a 1967 Cornell alumnus, answers questions in the Class of '28 community lounge Feb. 5 after discussing his bid for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Alfonse D'Amato. Green's appearance at Cornell was his last stop on a two-day, nine-city statewide tour to announce his candidacy. Green, whose daughter Jenya Green is a Cornell freshman, lost to D'Amato for the Senate in 1986. He will face former congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro and U.S. Rep. Charles Schumer of Brooklyn in a Sept. 15 Democratic primary. Robert Barker/University Photography
