Students will report on their research at the 12th annual Cornell Undergraduate Research Forum Wednesday, April 22. The forum is a celebration of undergraduate research from nearly every college in the university, and from a wide range of courses of study, from linguistics to neurobiology to computer science.
The forum begins with a keynote address by Dr. Ronald Crystal, professor of medicine at Cornell Medical College, at 3:45 p.m. in Kennedy Auditorium. Crystal is involved with groundbreaking research in the field of gene therapy used to treat cardiac ischemia. Following Crystal's speech, 1998 Marshall Scholarship winner Daniel Klein will speak about how he began his own research at Cornell, integrating the fields of linguistics, computer science and mathematics.
Immediately following the presentations, a reception and poster session will be held in the Trillium. Student presentations will be held in several smaller classrooms in buildings around campus.
The undergraduate research forum is sponsored by the Cornell Undergraduate Research Board (CURB). Working with Assistant Dean Marilyn Williams of the College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduates seek to provide knowledge and advice about becoming involved with research as an undergraduate.
In addition to organizing the forum, CURB has organized meetings with undergraduates involved in research for prospective students during Cornell Days.
