Saturday, May 2, will be "A Day of Moving Art at Plantations," when Jill Becker and Dancers Inc. present a collaborative outdoor music-and-dance performance at 1 p.m. in Jackson Grove, a natural outdoor setting at Cornell Plantations' Arboretum.
Both the Plantations program and a repeat performance at 4 p.m. on the Ithaca Commons are free and open to the public. In case of rain, the Plantations event will be rescheduled to Sunday, May 3, at 1 p.m. Performers will include local dance faculty and students. Jazz music will be provided by Peter Chwazik and the Outspeak Trio.
Becker currently teaches dance at the Community School of Music and Art and at Tiamat Studio, both in Ithaca. The event is made possible by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County/NYS Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, with funding from Meet the Composer Inc., the Chase Manhattan Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and facilities support from Plantations.
Vehicles may enter the Arboretum from Caldwell Road, and proceed straight on Arboretum Drive. Make the first left hand turn (before the ponds on the right hand side) and look for the parking attendant.
