Celebrating A.R. Ammons

A.R. Ammons, the Goldwin Smith Professor of Poetry, was honored on campus during "Ammonsfest" this past weekend. The two-day celebration featured poetry readings, lectures and the opening of an exhibit in Kroch Library, marking Ammons' gift to the university of his papers. Above, Ammons, in the light sport jacket at left, at the opening Friday, responds to a poem written for the occasion by Provost Don M. Randel, at the podium. At right, also at the Kroch Library opening, Ammons, left, examines papers in the exhibit with Roald Hoffmann, the Frank H.T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters, who lectured on Ammons' work Saturday. Photographs by Frank DiMeo/University Photography
