Cornell and IHS reunion: It's a reunion within a reunion. During Cornell's annual Reunion, June 4 to 7, the class of 1938 will be having its 60th gathering -- and many of its members also are members of Ithaca High School's 1934 class. Members of IHS classes of 1932, '33, '34, '35 and '36 who did not attend Cornell are invited to visit with Cornell '38 members at a Friday, June 5, luncheon at 2:30 p.m. in Barton Hall. "Just look for the tables with signs saying '38 -- and be prepared for a nostalgic gab-fest," said a Cornell '38 spokesman.

Blue Light service: Blue Light bus route 92 provides night service to the Cornell campus from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week, all year. Routes 91 and 93, however, will end service May 24; it will resume Aug. 21. There is no campus day or night service Memorial Day, May 25. If you have questions, call 277-RIDE, e-mail tcat@cornell.edu or visit the web site at www.tcatbus.com.

Transportation services news: Summer hours for Transportation and Mail Services are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning May 26. Academic-year hours -- 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- will resume Aug. 26. Summer permits: Parking permits for summer session, valid from May 26 to Aug. 21, are on sale at Commuter and Parking Services, 116 Maple Ave. There are a limited number of permits for the central campus area, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis. Call 255-PARK, e-mail transportation@cornell.edu or check the web at www.transportation.cornell.edu for information.

Leadership Tompkins: Leadership Tompkins, a program conducted jointly by the county Chamber of Commerce and Tompkins-Cortland Community College, is designed to ensure the continuing vitality of the community by identifying and developing individuals for future leadership roles. Each year, Cornell sponsors two university employees' participation in Leadership Tompkins. The next class -- October 1998 through June 1999 -- will introduce participants to the services, resources and issues facing the community and will enhance their leadership potential through seminars, retreats and field trips. Nominations of employees are being sought. If you know of someone who might benefit from and contribute to the 1998-99 Leadership Tompkins program, submit nominations to the Office of Community Relations, 110 Day Hall, by Friday, June 5. Include background on the individual and your reasons for supporting the nomination. Self nominations also may be submitted by the June 5 deadline.

Campus steam shutdown: Annual campuswide steam shutdowns are scheduled so that essential maintenance work on the steam distribution system and repairs at the Central Heating Plant can be made. This year the steam system will be shut down at 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, and start up again at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 28 -- a period that affects the fewest people and activities on campus. After the start up, most buildings will not have full steam until midnight or later. Should you anticipate problems, contact the Facilities Management Customer Service Center at 255-5322.
