Last chimes concert: Starting at noon, Monday, June 8, there will be a celebratory chimes concert on the Arts Quad -- the last concert before the bells are removed from the tower and sent off to Ohio to be tuned. The chimes will be returned to campus next year. The Cornell Chimesmasters, taking advantage of their last opportunity for an entire year to play, will be offering the final, hour-long concert. Cornell's Office of Human Resources will provide Cornell Dairy ice cream, and representatives of Maintenance Management, the Cornell Recreation Connection and Communication Strategies will be serving it up. The Office of Alumni Affairs will keep one of the reunion tents up, just in case it rains.

Tower Road work: Beginning Monday, June 8, Tower Road will be the site of several major construction projects. The road will be closed to traffic in four different areas at various times during the summer to accommodate road improvements and utility work. The construction areas are: 1) Tower Road between East Avenue and the east end of Corson-Mudd Hall; 2) Garden Avenue Extension between Tower Road and Bailey Hall; 3) Tower Road between Wing Drive and Judd Falls Road; 4) East Tower Road between Route 366 and Campus Road. These projects will differ in length -- from two weeks to four months -- and in their effects on Tower Road's traffic and accessibility. (The Chronicle will have more information on each project in next week's edition.) Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) will be rerouting all buses that usually serve this area to Campus Road from June 8 to Aug. 15. Temporary Campus Road bus stops will be located at Schoellkopf House, Kite Hill and on Campus Road near Wilson Laboratory for eastbound routes; and at Riley Robb Hall, the Field House and Teagle Hall for westbound routes. Cornell's Commuter and Parking Services also will be allowing commuters temporarily to park closer to the Campus Road bus stops by honoring "O" permits in the "K" (south of Morrison, east end of Alumni Field and on Campus Road) and "C" (the Crescent Lot next to Schoellkopf Field) areas, from June 8 to Aug. 15. If you have questions regarding parking and transportation issues during the construction, contact Cornell Transportation Services at 255-4600. Those with handicapped-accessible transit issues can contact Brenda Kuhn, the ADA paratransit coordinator for TCAT, at 277-9388, ext. 450. For general TCAT bus route, schedule and update information, call 277-RIDE, or visit the TCAT web site at www.tcatbus.com.
