Norman Kretzmann, the Susan Linn Sage Professor of Philosophy and Humane Letters at Cornell, died Aug. 1 at his home in Ithaca.
Kretzmann came to teach at Cornell in 1966, chaired the Philosophy Department during the 1970s and was the author of 14 books and 70 articles. He was a specialist in medieval philosophy and the philosophy of religion.
Kretzmann is survived by his wife, Barbara Ensign Kretzmann, and three daughters.
A memorial service will be held Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. in Sage Chapel.
William E. Hogan, an emeritus professor of law at New York University and the former J. DuPratt White Professor of Law at Cornell, died July 31.
Hogan taught at Cornell Law School from 1960 until 1981, when he moved to NYU law school, from which he retired in 1991. He was an expert in the field of contracts and commercial law.
Hogan is survived by his wife, Joanne, and three children.
