Creativity course: There is an informational meeting Friday, Sept. 18, on Cornell Council for the Arts course-development grants for faculty interested in teaching one section of the four-credit course "Mind and Memory: Explorations of Creativity in the Arts and Sciences," to be offered in spring 1999. The meeting will be in the A.D. White House, 9-11 a.m. For more information, call 255-7274.

International open house: The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies is holding an open house Friday, Sept. 18, from noon to 2 p.m. on the veranda of Uris Hall. Participants will meet new people and sample international cuisine while finding out about opportunities for international study. Programs that will be featured are: Cornell Abroad, International Relations Concentration, Latin American Studies Program, Department of Modern Languages, Institute for African Development, Peace Studies Program, Institute for European Studies, South Asia Program, Southeast Asia Program, East Asia Program and International Students and Scholars Office.

CU football on radio and web: Cornell and Eagle Broadcasting signed an agreement in August allowing WHCU 870 AM to air Big Red football for the next two years. The play-by-play announcer will be Grady Whittenburg, who has served in that capacity for the past three years, and veteran broadcaster Barry Leonard will handle the color commentary. WHCU will air all of Cornell's contests this fall, beginning with this Saturday's opener at Princeton. All 10 of WHCU's broadcasts of Cornell football also can be heard live via the Internet at http://www.broadcast.com/sports/ncaa/cornell/.

Tasting "Local Flavor": On Sunday, Sept. 27, the Statler Hotel will host a tasting and dinner featuring local organic produce, local wines and the food of local chefs. The event, titled "Local Flavor: Celebrating the Farmer/Chef Connection," will include organic farmers, Finger Lakes winemakers and a four-course banquet prepared by four of Ithaca's finest chefs: Sunit (Lex) Chutintaranond, chef/owner of Madeline's; Brian Halloran, executive chef at the Statler Hotel; Paul Andrews, chef/owner of Pangea; and Rene Senne, chef/owner of Rene's Bistro. The event is being produced by students in the "Contemporary Healthy Foods" class at Cornell with the cooperation of the Statler Hotel and Cornell Cooperative Extension. The price for the evening is $40, which includes the tasting, dinner and wine. The wine and produce tasting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. For more information and reservations, call Banfi's reservations at the Statler Hotel at 254-2565.
