Music faculty members Karlton Hester and Roberto Sierra have been selected as recipients of 1998-99 ASCAP awards. The cash awards, made by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, are presented annually to artists who have demonstrated exceptional work in the past year. Hester is a noted jazz flutist and saxophonist, an assistant professor of music and the Herbert Gussman Director of Jazz Studies. Sierra, considered one of Puerto Rico's most prolific composers, is an associate professor of music.
