Open for inspection

Randy Worobo, center, assistant professor of food science and technology, shows state inspectors, Oct. 14, how an ultraviolet light system in Cornell's Food Science Pilot Plant in Stocking Hall destroys pathogens in apple cider. Some 115 inspectors from the New York State Agriculture and Markets' Division of Food Safety and Inspection were on campus for an annual update. The inspectors examine 28,000 food processing plants, retail food operations and food warehouses throughout the state. Frank DiMeo/University Photography
