The Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, a professional choir of 16 singers, will give a performance in Barnes Hall on Feb. 14 at 4 p.m.
Nearly two-thirds of the members of the ensemble work at Cornell. Among them are Mark Spiro, associate dean for administration in the College of Engineering; Dick Highfield, associate dean for MBA programs and operations at the Johnson Graduate School of Management; and Loralyn Light, events manager in the Department of Music.
The concert is titled "The Torrid Zone" and features both sacred and folk music from equatorial climes. On the program are a Mexican baroque alleluia, a new mass by Mexican composer Mario Lavista and choral adaptations of such popular Latin American dances as the habañera, mapalá and joropo.
Admission to the vocal ensemble concert is $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the ticket center at Clinton House, 273-4497, and at the door. For information, call 255-4760.
