Cornell's campus is often described as the most beautiful in America, yet for years there has been no comprehensive book of campus photographs available. Now the Campus Store, in association with I.R.I. Studios, has published Images of Cornell, a beautiful collection of scenes of the campus taken by photographer Alan Nyiri.
With an introduction by President Emeritus Frank H.T. Rhodes on the history of the university and what makes it unique, the 40-page paperback book contains 60 color images of Cornell, illustrating the natural beauty of the campus and its wide variety of buildings, old and new.
The book retails for $17.95 and will be available exclusively through the Campus Store, the Statler Lobby Shop and on the web at www.store.cornell.edu
The book contains stunning shots of the natural scenery of the campus and its surrounding gorges, waterfalls and lakes.
Representative images of each of the colleges and graduate and professional schools are featured, as well as pictures of the shared spaces of the university. These include Willard Straight Hall, McGraw Tower, Uris and Olin libraries, the Plantations, Minn's Garden, Sage Chapel, Anabel Taylor Hall, the Johnson Museum of Art, Schoellkopf Field, Bailey Hall, the Center for Theatre Arts and the Baker residence hall complex.
Rhodes concludes his introduction by saying: "I hope that Alan Nyiri's outstanding photographs will rekindle memories of this glorious campus among Cornell's students, alumni and friends and inspire a new devotion to the remarkable institution that Ezra Cornell created."
