Benefit jamboree: A benefit jamboree is being held for Robert Lee Crockford, 48, an employee at the Cornell Print Shop who died Oct. 29, 1998, after a 10-month battle with cancer. Crockford was an area resident most of his life and was a singer/musician who performed with a number of local country-and-western bands. Family, friends and former bandmembers will remember him by hosting a benefit Sunday, July 25, at the Cornell Recreation Park (off Hanshaw Road) from 1 to 9 p.m. All proceeds will be used to establish a music scholarship at Dryden High School in Crockford's memory. The benefit is open to the public with no admission charge, although donations are appreciated. A family atmosphere is planned with children welcomed and no alcohol served. For information, contact Janet Johnson at 347-4824 or Marlene Crockford at 255-3752/898-5542.
