College/Community Expo: The Ithaca Downtown Partnership, in conjunction with Cornell, Ithaca College and Tompkins-Cortland Community College, has announced the inauguration of an event they hope to be an annual one on the Ithaca Commons. College/Community Expo '99 will take place Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. and host entertainers and over 70 exhibitors from area colleges and community organizations. The organizing committee said it hopes to attract students interested in volunteering in the community and introduce them to the vibrant Ithaca Commons. The committee also invites community members who are curious about various academic departments and programs at local institutions to participate. College and community performers will provide entertainment at the main pavilion and amphitheater on the Commons. Contact the Ithaca Downtown Partnership office at 277-8679 for further information. Transportation Services schedule: Transportation Services, at 116 Maple Ave., will be open 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 20, 23 and 24. Service at that time will be limited to Cornell faculty and staff members. Student services during those days will be in the Field House, according to the following schedule:
Student Disability Services moves:Beginning this past Monday, Aug. 16, Student Disability Services is located in 424 Computing and Communications Center. The office of Student Disability Services is part of the Center for Learning and Teaching, which occupies the 4th floor of the building. Student Disability Services assists documented students with disabilities in obtaining the reasonable accommodations they require (and are entitled to under the law) in academics, housing, transportation and other areas of campus life as needed on an individual basis. Host families needed: The International Committee of the Campus Club is in need of families to host an international student. Activities could include special family outings, celebrations or holidays. It can be an enriching experience for children and adults alike. Families are encouraged to create their own activities.
