Suzie Park, '99 Hum. Ec., won first place in Contract/Recessed Downlighting in the Halo National Lighting Design Competition. Her submission was "A Sony Sensory Station," a proposal for Sony Corp. to create an amusement park setting in which to educate consumers about activities behind the firm's cutting-edge technological advancements. Park, who majored in interior design in the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis and now works for a lighting design firm in New York City, developed the proposal for a final project in Professor Sheila Danko's class, DEA 408-Design Studio VIII. Halo is a lighting fixture manufacturing company that sponsors the competition on several categories of lighting design every year. Park will receive $1,500 and a crystal obelisk at an awards ceremony Oct. 26 at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Interior Planning and Design Conference and Exposition in New York City.
