Lee Teng-hui Speech on the Information Superhighway

A speech by President Lee Teng-hui of Taiwan to Cornell University alumni at 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, was broadcast live over the Internet. Information about Lee's visit to the Cornell University campus is also available via the World Wide Web.

Lee's speech was viewed by many users of CU-SeeMe, a free videoconferencing program available from Cornell.

CU-SeeMe is a free videoconferencing program which allows transmission of small black-and-white pictures and accompanying sound over the Internet using ordinary desktop computers. The software is available free via anonymous FTP from CU-SeeMe.cornell.edu in the directory /pub/CU-SeeMe (log in as "anonymous" with no password), or via the World Wide Web at http://cu-seeme.cornell.edu. CU-SeeMe will run on almost any Macintosh and on IBM-compatible computers running Microsoft Windows 3.1 with Winsock TCP/IP software. A direct Internet connection is required, and a high-speed connection is preferred for best results.
