| The terrace outside of Snee Hall, which houses the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, was the setting April 10 for an international wedding performed by Marjorie Olds, center, wife of Bryan Isacks, chair of the department. At very short notice (due to a residency visa application), Olds married Ann Elisabeth Laksfoss Hansen, of Haugesund, Norway, to Nestor Fernando Cardozo Diaz, of Bogota, Colombia, a graduate student in the department. The two met at Ohio University in 1997. Hansen recently obtained her master's in Latin American history at the University of Texas and is back in Norway studying to be a teacher. She plans to spend next year in Ithaca with her husband, hence the need for a visa. Olds is a former Ithaca prosecutor, children's lawyer and city court judge who has been working for the past year at Shoals Marine Laboratory as director of external relations. She is returning to the law, both as an Ithaca city court judge and a state administrative law judge. Richard Killen/University Photography |
