Lee Teng-hui arrives in Ithaca

Lee Teng-hui, right, former president of Taiwan, greets a crowd of about 500 well-wishers, Tuesday, after his arrival at Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport. Lee, who earned his Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Cornell in 1968, is on a private visit to campus, through today, to see his granddaughter, a Cornell undergraduate student. The university used the occasion of his visit to announce the establishment of the Lee Teng-hui Institute for scientific research.
