"Day of Caring" volunteers: Help a local United Way member agency catch up on its housekeeping or maintenance chores by participating in the fifth annual United Way "Day of Caring," Sept. 12. Regular benefits-eligible Cornell staff and faculty members who volunteer to do hands-on work at community agencies on the Day of Caring may obtain paid release time from their jobs, contingent on approval from their supervisors. On Sept. 12, volunteers will gather at Stewart Park at 9 a.m., receive free T-shirts and refreshments and be assigned to specific work sites. Volunteers will be treated to lunch by the community agencies and, later in September, be recognized at an on-campus United Way kickoff event. To volunteer, send e-mail to dayofcaring@cornell.edu or call 255-8206.
