Worst Pills, Best Pills author speaks:"The Politics of Health:My Career in Public Interest Medicine" will be the title of a free talk given by Sidney M. Wolfe, M.D., director of the Public Citizen's Health Research Group, Monday, Oct. 27, 12:20-1:10 p.m., in Bache Auditorium of Malott Hall on campus. Public-interest medicine is a multidisciplinary specialty that uses research and the political process to address issues related to unsafe drugs, foods, medical devices and workplaces. Wolfe is the author of Worst Pills, Best Pills; Women's Health Alert; Questionable Doctors; and Questionable Hospitals and numerous other publications. He also has written about the impact of market forces on health care and medical education. Wolfe studied engineering and chemistry at Cornell and graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His awards include a MacArthur Foundation fellowship.
