Stef Coetzee, Distinguished Africanist Scholar, to speak on campus Jan. 27

Stef Coetzee, professor of business at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, will be on campus Jan. 24 to 27 as the Cornell Institute for African Development's (IAD) Distinguished Africanist Scholar. Coetzee will deliver a public talk titled "Rethinking Africa's Development after Fifty Years of Economic Development" during IAD's Weekly Seminar Series on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 12:20 p.m. in 153 Uris Hall. The seminar is free and open to the public.

Coetzee is an expert in development economics, regional economics, urban economic development and strategic and change management in higher education. He was vice-chancellor of the University of the Orange Free State during its transformation to a non-racial university. He currently lectures at the Business School of the University of Stellenbosch and heads the African Studies Group, major consultants and advisers to the New Partnership on African Development.
