Hotel School and JohnsonDiversey launch research partnership

JohnsonDiversey, a leading provider of cleaning products for the hospitality industry, has signed on as a senior partner with the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration. The firm will underwrite an international research project focusing on the costs and benefits associated with the cleaning of hotel rooms.

The study will be led by Hotel School Professor Michael Sturman under the auspices of the CHR. "We will examine how individual performance varies and how those variances affect operating outcomes," Sturman said. "Our goal is to show how the cleaning function affects important measures such as total costs, customer satisfaction and profitability." The findings are expected to advance operating practices in the industry.

"We are delighted to work with Cornell on this research project," said Angel Santos, vice president, marketing, North America, with JohnsonDiversey. The firm also is involved in maintaining food safety standards in restaurants and in-flight catering.

Gary Thompson, executive director of the CHR and professor at the Hotel School, said: "We are pleased to partner with JohnsonDiversey. This alliance is further evidence of the center's proven ability to build a pre-eminent research organization with the intellectual and financial resources to serve the needs of the hospitality industry." The firm is the 11th partner for the center and its 35th corporate supporter.
