In Addition

In the article "Experiment Station's successful Empire apple has its 30th birthday," in the Sept. 19 issue, a mention of Leo Klein was inadvertently omitted.

Klein, a pomologist, worked in the apple-breeding program at the Experiment Station in Geneva from 1949 until 1962, when he died in active service. He was instrumental in the selection and breeding of the Empire apple, which was officially released for commercial production in 1966.
