Classes open to area residents during Cornell's Winter Session

Area residents interested in learning something new, taking a class for personal or professional advancement or furthering their education are invited to register for a course through Cornell's Winter Session, held Jan. 5--20, 2000. Courses are held on- and off-campus and through online distance learning.

During this relatively quiet time on campus, students can enjoy smaller classes and easy access to university facilities. Course work is focused and intensive.

This Winter Session, courses offered through distance learning include:

These distance learning courses may include a web-based component, videotapes, e-mail sessions with faculty and/or CD-ROMs.

On-campus courses offered this Winter Session focus on topics including communication, peace science, economics, Shakespeare, writing and understanding the religions of the world.

Off-campus courses include studying Hebrew in Israel and three courses offered in New York City: a chance to study Swahili, an opportunity to perform supervised field work in urban affairs and a special program entitled Practicing Medicine/Providing Health Care for people seriously considering the study of medicine.

The registration period for Winter Session is Nov. 17--Dec. 15, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays in B20 Day Hall. Anyone interested in the distance learning courses must register by Dec. 3. Tuition is $625 per credit.
