* Minority graduate student orientation: For entering minority graduate students, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 4-6 p.m., 392 Caldwell Hall.
Registration
* Registration: Check "Just the Facts" on Bear Access to see if you are registered. If not yet registered, clear "holds" at the appropriate office, then go to the University Registrar's Office, 222 Day Hall. A fee of $200 plus interest payments will be assessed those registering after Sept. 17.
Financial
* Fellowship checks: Beginning Aug. 23, students with fall fellowships administered through the Graduate School may pick up checks at 155 Caldwell Hall between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Students must be registered; bring Cornell ID.
* Partial tuition fellowship: Self-supporting doctoral students are eligible for partial tuition fellowships if they entered the doctoral program in spring 1995 or earlier, have six semesters registered in the Graduate School and have passed the A-Exam. Completed applications are due at the Graduate Fellowship Office, 155 Caldwell Hall, by Aug. 27 for fall 1999 semester.
Workshops and Meetings
* Fulbright grants for study abroad for 2000-2001: The Fulbright adviser, Professor Milton Esman, will conduct an informational meeting Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 4:30 p.m. in G-08 Uris Hall. Applications and information booklets are available at the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, 170 Uris Hall; 255-6370; http://www.einaudi.cornell.edu/unding. Applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree prior to September 2000 and be a U.S. citizen. Grants cover travel, living costs and tuition at overseas universities.

Compost Workshop
Cornell Cooperative Extension's master composters will hold a free "Compost With Confidence" workshop Saturday, Aug. 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Community Gardens, just off Route 13 near the Ithaca Farmers' Market.
