The news was met with cheers from supporters on two continents. After months of negotiations, cheerleading and pleading their case, Cornell and partner The Technion - Israel Institute of Technology were announced the winner of a bid to build a groundbreaking new campus in New York City. Mayor Michael Bloomberg made the announcement at a Dec. 19 press conference at Weill Cornell Medical College. The "game-changing" applied sciences and technology campus, he said, promises to spur economic growth, job creation and high-tech entrepreneurship.
