A book-signing party for First Cast - Teaching Kids to Fly Fish, by Phil Genova, who teaches fly fishing at Cornell and works as a program manager in youth fly fishing and environmental education at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, will be May 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Elk's Club building, 139 W. State St.
Genova, founder and director of the Fly Fisher Apprentice Program, also has worked with students from the Johnson Graduate School of Management, who helped write the business plan for the Community Fly Fisher, a youth workforce fly-fishing outlet in Ithaca. Genova's book, which has pictures, illustrations and contributions from more than 40 young and veteran fly fishers from this area and across the country, gives detailed information on how to teach every aspect of fly fishing to young people.
