Stewart Ave. bridge and gorge trail closed: The Cascadilla Gorge Trail between College Avenue and Court Street will be closed to the public for safety reasons during repairs of the Stewart Avenue bridge at Cascadilla Creek. The bridge was closed by the City of Ithaca beginning Oct. 29 to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic for approximately five weeks. Stewart Avenue is closed to through traffic between University Avenue and Buffalo Street, and traffic is being rerouted. Northbound traffic is rerouted via Buffalo Street, North Aurora Street, East Court Street and University Avenue. Southbound traffic is detoured through University Avenue and East Court, North Cayuga and Buffalo streets. The gorge trail, which is maintained by Cornell Plantations, was re-opened to the public last week after work crews repaired flood damage. However, it has been closed again because of the danger of falling materials from the Stewart Avenue bridge project.
